Coffee is our source of caffeine, a daily routine, an activity to socialize with others. We rarely stop to think about the who, how, or what. Who this coffee is, how it reached our cups, and what flavors we’re actually tasting.

We will discuss coffee origins, processing, and production. Reda will guide us through Geshe Michael’s coffee meditation steps and interconnectedness as we reflect and rejoice on all of the lives linked to the process of coffee as it reaches our cups.

Participants will leave with a working knowledge of the coffee process from seed to cup, the awareness to mindfully taste anything, and the tools to create their own home meditation practice.

Danielle Pittner, coffee cupper extraordinaire, learned all her thorough coffee know-how from 3J/Little Skip's own Counter Culture Coffee. Armed with this knowledge, she perfected the art of brewing, fancy latte art, refining her palette, and traveled to coffee lands far and wide. She most recently comes to us after managing a cafe where she hosted public coffee tastings, engineered outreach events, and concocted customized coffee tasting events for specific groups. Danielle's favorite coffee drink is a simple cup of drip coffee.

Reda Charafeddine stumbled onto the doors of the Three Jewels 2 years ago and unknowingly started on his yogic path. Prior to that he was violently allergic to meditation and mala beads. Now he's completing his 300 hour yoga training. Meditation is part of his daily practice, he is fascinated by the energetic / subtle body where he will continue to study the topic. And mala beads? He's got a gazillion. They just fall from the sky.
