The three-part "Great Ideas of Buddhism" series summarizes all fifteen Buddhist Foundation Courses, along with the teachings of the traditional training of a Tibetan Buddhist Master. In part one, we cover the first five ACI Courses:
- The Principal Teachings of Buddhism
- Buddhist Refuge
- Applied Meditation
- Proof of Future Lives
- How Karma Works
This is course 16 of the 18 Buddhist Foundation Courses offered by the Asian Classics Institute (ACI) at Three Jewels. ACI provides 18 courses that progress through the entire teachings of the Buddhist path to enlightenment in the Hinayana and Mahayana schools. The courses are provided generously by the founder of Three Jewels, Geshe Michael Roach, who translated a large body of texts from Tibetan, and condensed a quarter century's worth of study into a 5 year, drop-in course complete with homeworks and quizzes. Drop in every once in a while, or complete coursework for a certificate. All courses are offered free of charge.
Thursdays | 7:30 - 9:30PM | Starting Oct. 12th
Dharma is always offered FREE of charge, but if you'd like to keep the Three Jewels alive and thriving in NYC, become a member for only $30/month. Or drop-in and donate, suggested $20.
Hector Marcel is the president of Three Jewels and long-time student of Geshe Michael Roach. He is a treasure in Three Jewels' community. In addition to teaching at the Diamond Cutter Institute in China, and running an international non-profit, 108 Lives, and popular Bushwick coffee shop Little Skips, Hector has been teaching ACI course material since 2013. Hector's heart-wisdom is treasured by his students, and his infectious, loving humor is one of his most effective teaching tools.
