Catherine “Cat” Murcek, IAYT, is a Certified Yoga therapist. She was inspired to follow this path while on her own personal journey of trying to manage chronic pain. Her teachers helped her to realize her scoliosis was a bigger factor than doctors had ever led her to believe. She has studied mainly with Alison West and Deborah Wolk, but also studied Yoga for Backcare & Scoliosis with Elise Browning Miller, Alexander technique for yoga instructors with Witold Fitz-Simon, and is certified in Yoga Tune Up (R). In addition to teaching at Yoga Union, Align Brooklyn, and New Leaf Yoga & Pilates, Cat is also a worker owner at Samamkaya Yoga Backcare & Scoliosis Collective. Additionally, she performs modern dance around the city, loves to travel, and volunteers her time to help support the worker cooperative movement.
