Learn How to Fall in Love

with Melissa Jeng

We grow up learning that love is unpredictable, uncontrollable and for the lucky few. But in Tibetan Buddhism there are tools that bring your mind to a state beyond where fairytales end, and into something that transcends the human condition. And you can feel that way for everything, everyone, everywhere all at once. Because that's what a Buddha does. Bring a friend, partner, or go to meet someone. Do exercises to learn more about each other and an ancient meditation that can change your life.Join us afterwards for an hour of mocktails.

You Don’t Need to Have a Partner or Like Your Partner in Order for Them to be Perfect for You

You Don’t Need to Have a Partner or Like Your Partner in Order for Them to be Perfect for You

with Hector Marcel

The best and worst of all human existance probably is contained in the most romantic relationships. The people we desire and love become like Gods and Devils to us if we’re loved wholly, if we’re rejected, if we’re abandoned or if we can have that one pure moment of merging. But an untrained human mind is incapable of love. It’s like a hot coal. Tibetan Buddhism actually has explicit instructions on what to do when you're ghosted, you're lonely, you don't like who you love, or you don't love who you like.

You’re a Poet Even if You Don’t Know Yet Meditation Will Show You

with Javier García Sánchez

The greatest poets remind us that with the right attention, anything can be loved — the curve of a hand, the weight of water, the smile of a stranger. This session invites you to soften the gaze, to open the heart wide enough to embrace everything — especially yourself. And through meditation you'll uncover the poetry within. Leave with a poem (inside, or written).

Effortless Joy is Possible but it Takes Effort

Effortless Joy is Possible but it Takes Effort

with Caroline Güntert

Joy doesn’t arrive fully formed. It’s built, moment by moment, through what we choose to notice, celebrate, and offer. We’ll begin by creating a collective fruit and flower mandala, each person bringing one small piece. This simple act trains the mind in TAR TUK, the practice of rejoicing as a shared, lived experience. Bliss Meditation is a precise method for increasing the state of joy until it’s so present, so natural, that even your old patterns can’t drown it out. You’ll leave with a sense that joy is not only possible, it’s trainable.

Bring a piece of fruit or flower with you.

Join us afterwards for an hour of mocktails & SNACKS.

Learn How to Love by Pretending to

with Roy Najjar

Love isn't something that comes naturally in most cases, but that's what Tibetan Buddhism is for. It's basically a way to train your mind to love everyone and everything. The key is intelligent pretend. Using contemplation, meditation and the application of a radical perspective on love, you'll learn how to play pretend until it's actually true that you are able to love every single person you meet as though they're your best friend.

Spiritual Pocket Guide: Zine Workshop

We wake up and forget that we want to be [insert a quality of your enlightened self]. Sometimes we need a reminder!

Join Yisel in an evening of spiritual zine making and sharing. Yisel will share a brief Zines 101 and then guide you through the process of making your own “pocket guide” zine. We’ll have time to put our personal spiritual manifesto into words and then create pocket guides to help us put these wishes into practice throughout the day. Enjoy a drink from the cafe while you practice the art of self-expression. We’ll end by making copies of our zines to share with our peers. (Zines are meant to be shared!)

We’ll provide examples and everything you need. No experience required! Just bring your biggest wish, or your idea of a perfect day.

Participants will receive:

  • Materials for zine making: art supplies, a worksheet, and inspiration

  • Complimentary drink from the café

Spiritual Relationships: How to Be Hot, Single & Spiritual at the Same Time

Dating is the gross disappointing part of your life that you have to endure until you find "the one" and then just hang out with them until you die. But that doesn't have to be true. Tibetan Buddhism approaches romantic relationships (and everything else for that matter) as an extremely sacred opportunity. And there's a way to train your mind so that dating, even without finding anyone you like at all, can be a profound spiritual practice that opens your heart to love. Join Rachel, a practitioner and meditation teacher, in a discussion on how dating can be a fulfilling spiritual practice, even if you don't find "the one."

*How to view the people you date, from a first date to the last one
*Whether or not they’re “the one”
*When to make a casual relationship a committed one
*How to work with attachment styles (yours and theirs)
*How to make casual encounters spiritual

Spiritual Relationships: How to Want to Worship Your Partner
